Bowley Purpose Statement

The Bowley school community will educate and enrich the children of our nation's heroes to become successful lifelong learners.

A Message from the Principal

Happy New Year!  Bowley Elementary welcomes all learning community members back from the winter break.  Upon our return, we will engage all students in re-teaching of our school expectations.  When communicating our school expectations with students, all staff members utilize our common language: Practice Safety, Act Responsibly, Work Together, and Show Respect, or PAWS.  Our interaction with students using common language provides Bowley students a clear understanding of a successful student at Bowley Elementary.  Furthermore, the use of a clear and consistent message regarding school expectations will promote an accessible and equitable school community for all students.

Our new year also includes an accreditation visit in April.  A COGNIA team will visit Bowley Elementary in April to review our educational program.  Additionally, the accreditation focuses on students and student learning.  Our families are vital contributors in providing our students with developing a home environment in support of their child’s academic, social, and emotional progress.  Strengthening our home-school connection is integral in building/maintaining a strong foundation of knowledge and skills necessary to instructional excellence.  More information will be shared with our learning community as we near the accreditation visit.

Bowley Elementary administered math and literacy benchmark assessments prior to the winter break.  Our assessment plan provides timely results to staff in order to respond to the academic needs of our students.  Also, grade level teams review the assessment results to make more informed decisions regarding student learning or adjustments to instructional plans.  During the next few weeks, Bowley Elementary will review our assessment results to collaboratively review student performance and educational programming needs as we begin the second semester.  Please contact your child’s classroom teacher with any questions regarding your child’s performance on the benchmark assessments.

We look forward to engaging with our learning community throughout the second semester.  One way learning community members may engage in collaborative discourse with Bowley Elementary is our monthly parent forum.  Our next parent forum is scheduled for Thursday, January 23, 2025.  We will review our most current math and literacy results for each grade level.  Our parent forum is also an excellent opportunity for learning community members to receive school-level information, while also offering input and feedback to the school.  We look forward to our learning communities’ attendance at our forum.  More importantly, we look forward to our continued partnership with Bowley Bobcat families focused on all students’ learning.

PTA Holiday Shop

The holiday season at Bowley Elementary School was extra special this year, thanks to the incredible efforts of our dedicated PTA members. The Holiday Shop transformed the school into a winter wonderland where students and parents alike could find the perfect gifts for their loved ones.

From December 11th to 13th, the school information center was bustling with excitement as the PTA volunteers worked tirelessly during school hours to run the shop. The atmosphere was filled with joy and laughter as students browsed through a delightful array of gifts, with prices starting as low as 25 cents! There was something for everyone, from charming trinkets to thoughtful presents, ensuring that every family could participate in the holiday spirit without breaking the bank.

Parents were thrilled to see their children learning the joy of giving, as they carefully selected gifts for family members. The PTA members, dressed in festive attire, were on hand to assist the young shoppers, offering guidance and wrapping gifts with care. The smiles on the children's faces were priceless as they proudly carried their wrapped treasures home.
One of the highlights of the Holiday Shop was the section where students could pick out surprise gifts for their parents and siblings. The excitement was heard as they paid for their choices to the PTA elves, who ensured that the gifts were labeled and nicely wrapped.

The success of this year's Holiday Shop is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Bowley Elementary School PTA. Their commitment to fostering a sense of community and spreading holiday cheer is truly commendable. A big thank you to all the volunteers who made this event possible and to the families who supported the shop.

As we wrap up another fantastic year, we look forward to more wonderful events and activities organized by our amazing PTA. Happy holidays to all and may the spirit of giving continue to shine brightly at Bowley Elementary School! 🎄🎁

Winter Sing Along

Student Photos In December

On the cheerful afternoon of December 18th, Bowley Elementary School on Fort Liberty was filled with the joyous sounds of our annual Winter Sing-Along!

On the cheerful afternoon of December 18th, Bowley Elementary School on Fort Liberty was filled with the joyous sounds of our annual Winter Sing-Along! This year, the event was divided into two delightful sessions: one for our K-2 students and another for our 3-5 students, ensuring everyone had a chance to shine.

The event's highlight was the enthusiastic participation of our students, who led the songs with great energy and spirit. Thanks to the Interactive Flat Panels set up at the back of the stage, families could easily follow along and enjoy the fun from their seats. Seeing everyone singing together was heartwarming, creating a wonderful sense of community and holiday cheer.

Our talented Music Teacher, Ms. Estrada, orchestrated the entire event with her usual flair and passion for all things music. Her dedication to music education and her students was evident in every note sung and every smile shared. The students' performances were nothing short of spectacular, showcasing their hard work and love for music.

For those who couldn't attend the live event, don't worry! You can still experience the magic of the Winter Sing-Along by visiting the Bowley Elementary School Facebook Page, where the event has been posted for all to enjoy.

This year's Winter Sing-Along was a memorable celebration of music, community, and holiday spirit. We are already looking forward to next year's event and can't wait to see what musical surprises Ms. Estrada and our talented students have in store for us!

Happy Holidays from Bowley Elementary School! 🎶❄️🎉

Teacher of the Year Nominations

The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Teacher of the Year (TOY) Program is designed to recognize and honor outstanding educators with more than three years of teaching experience at a DoDEA school who exemplify the qualities of professionalism and excellence in our teaching workforce.

The DoDEA TOY Program is modeled after the National Teacher of the Year (NTOY) Program, which is sponsored by the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). This program provides an avenue for all STOYs to be nationally recognized and compete for the NTOY. The NTOY and all STOYs are presented at the White House. The DoDEA TOY travels to all NTOY activities and takes a semester-long sabbatical to design and implement a project of choice.

Any stakeholder may nominate a DoDEA teacher for this award. Nominees are highly encouraged to participate in the application process.

The process is open from Jan 6th-February 13th.

Absence Procedures

Please call the front office within 30 minutes of the start time when you know your child will be absent or tardy.

Appointments or Illness

Students will not be released from school on the basis of a telephone call. Parents must sign-out and sign-in their children when taking them to appointments and back to school. When students are sent home because of illness, they are to be accompanied by their parent(s) or authorized guardian/emergency contact.

Absence Notification

Parents are asked to call the front office when they know their child will be absent. The sponsor must provide the front office with a written explanation of each absence when the child returns to school. The sponsor's note, by itself, does not constitute an excused absence.

Parents will be informed of unexcused absences. Students will be required to make up all missed school assignments. Parents are strongly encouraged to work closely with their child's teachers to ensure all class assignments are completed in a timely manner.

Release of Students Policy

During the school day, students will be released only to a parent or to the person listed as the emergency contact on the registration form. The only exceptions will be:

  1. A signed note is received from the sponsor designating another adult to pick up the student or
  2. A military unit has designated someone to pick up the student when parents and emergency contacts could not be reached.
