Ms. Lacy Merrill

Biography

Ms. Lacy Merrill has over a decade of experience in special education and instructional leadership. She began her career with the North Carolina Public School System before joining the DoWEA, where she has served in diverse roles at both the elementary and middle school levels across the Europe and Americas regions.

Ms. Merrill holds a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, a Master of Education in Special Education from North Carolina State University, and an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Liberty University.

As a military-connected child herself, Ms. Merrill deeply understands the unique challenges faced by transient students and their families. Her upbringing as an Army brat instilled in her a strong appreciation for stability, compassion, and belonging within the school environment. Though she has lived and worked in various locations around the world, she considers Fort Bragg home and is committed to serving the community that has played a central role in her life.

Ms. Merrill’s professional mission centers on supporting military-connected students by fostering empathy, providing structure, and ensuring access to the resources and relationships needed to thrive both academically and personally. Her leadership style is grounded in transparency, collaboration, and a steadfast commitment to student-centered decision-making. 

Beyond her professional responsibilities, Ms. Merrill finds joy in family adventures with her husband and three children.
